Morgan State Ventures Through Europe On a 7 Day Cultural Experience And Dominates Along The Way

On August 11, 2023 the Morgan State Men's Basketball program departed Philadelphia International for what ended up being the experience of a lifetime for these players and coaches. After a long flight and bus ride, the bears arrived Belgium, where their overseas ventures began. Right away the Bears were immersed in the cultural differences that Belgium had to offer. The architecture, small shops, and fresh bakeries quickly caught the attention of the players and staff. Luckily in Belgium a lot of the locals spoke english so they were able to recommend good food and sights that we need to see while we were there. And of course the trip wouldn't be complete without a Belgian waffle!!

After four eventful days in Belgium the bears departed for their next stop, The City of Love, Paris. The love was for sure in the air. The time spent in Paris was filled with nothing but laughter and camaraderie amongst the program. They fully embraced the culture beginning with a boat ride to see historical sights including the Eiffel Tower. Global Sports Academy Founder Rob Blumenthal did a great job of making sure the program experienced a variety of activities that portrayed European culture throughout the trip. "I want this to be a lifelong memory, this is something they may never ever experience again. And I think we have been able to do that this week." Said Blumenthal, and a lifelong memory it will be.

Transitioning to basketball, the bears played four exhibition games during their time in Belgium, coming away with the win in each match. The thing that quickly stood out was the bears energy and passion. The bears found themselves in dramatic 4th quarters each of the four games. Their energy was the deciding factor. "The thing that excited me today was the intensity we got" says junior guard Kamron Hobbs. The intensity was displayed through the players, coaches, and small travel party that you could hear cheering from every corner of the gym. The passion this team displayed on the court in a unfamiliar environment was truly amazing. This Morgan State basketball team is going to be exciting to watch this year.
